how do you explain Paul Wertico? He was good on the gig, but as an overall player, I didn't dig him at all.
Sanchez, aside from weak groove in my opinion, is still the second best PMG drummer next to Danny Gottlieb. He can still play a ton of drums. You just won't find him on any backbeat recordings.

[edit] Oh, and Flarob, funny you mention about Danny on backbeats--he's actually doing the Lt. Dan Band (Gary Sinise's band) lately, which is backbeat city! Great guy, great player.

I'm pretty sure Flarob meant you won't find Antonio on many backbeat recordings. Danny's on quite a few.
I agree, Danny was the bomb in the PMG. I also feel like Antonio's groove hardly exists. I guess it's a taste thing. I don't feel him. No pocket at all. Very light...too light.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I would have to agree with that. Same goes for Horacio, in my opinion... doesn't "dig in" enough for my taste. As in that case, i always said i prefered what i have heard from Joey Heredia, he has an f'n pocket!

Back to Antonio... i feel ya on that one. There are some times when he will just play a wicked-tasty fill that is so in there, and i get super pumped, but then the groove returns to being floaty... too floaty for me.

However, i am sure it fits right in with Pat's music so you gotta do what you gotta do.
